Marek Edelman passed away Saturday, October 3rd.  He was 90 years old.

Edelman was the last surviving leader of the 1943 Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, a founding member of the Jewish Fighting Organization (ZOB), and an activist in the solidarity movement.  He received the Embassy’s Jan Karski Freedom Award in February 2009 for promoting democracy and human rights.
